Cloudflare
Global CDN that absorbs DDoS attacks and speeds up your site.
What is it?
Cloudflare is a global Content Delivery Network (CDN) and security platform. When your domain points to Cloudflare, all traffic to your website passes through Cloudflare's network of 300+ data centers worldwide before reaching your server. Cloudflare caches static files (images, CSS, JS) close to your visitors and blocks malicious traffic before it ever hits your server.
Why does your website need it?
A DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack can send millions of fake requests to your server and take your website offline within seconds. Cloudflare absorbs these attacks transparently — your server never even sees the flood. For legitimate visitors, Cloudflare serves cached content from a location near them (Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi) instead of your central server, cutting latency by 40–60% for Indian visitors.
How does it work?
When you add your domain to Cloudflare and update your nameservers, DNS queries for your domain resolve to Cloudflare's anycast IP addresses. Cloudflare's edge nodes inspect incoming requests: bot traffic and DDoS patterns are dropped at the edge, while legitimate requests are either served from cache or forwarded (proxied) to your origin server. SSL certificates are terminated at Cloudflare's edge, adding another layer of security.
Cloudflare is included in every VillageHosting plan.
