Let's Encrypt
Automatic HTTPS for every domain — free forever.
What is it?
Let's Encrypt is a free, automated Certificate Authority (CA) that issues SSL/TLS certificates. An SSL certificate enables HTTPS on your website — that green padlock in the browser address bar. HTTPS encrypts data sent between your visitor's browser and your server, so passwords, form submissions, and payment details cannot be intercepted.
Why does your website need it?
Without HTTPS, Google Chrome shows "Not Secure" in the address bar for your website. This scares visitors away, especially for contact forms or checkout pages. Google also uses HTTPS as a ranking signal — HTTP sites rank lower. Before Let's Encrypt, SSL certificates cost ₹3,000–₹15,000 per year. Let's Encrypt made them completely free, so every website on our platform gets HTTPS automatically, at no extra charge.
How does it work?
Let's Encrypt uses the ACME (Automatic Certificate Management Environment) protocol. Our server automatically proves domain ownership by placing a specific file at a known URL (or via DNS). Let's Encrypt's servers verify this, then issue a 90-day certificate. AutoSSL in cPanel handles renewal automatically every 60 days, so your certificate never expires. The entire process requires zero manual action from you.
Let's Encrypt is included in every VillageHosting plan.
You don't need to configure or manage it. Our team sets it up for you.
